Im disappointed with the Sierra Wireless AirCard 881U for use with Celcom 3G wireless.

It says on the box that it is "Zero-CD" install, and it is apparently compatible with Macs as it comes with Mac drivers, but ultimately it just stops there - it does not include the software to handle the connection and you would have to download it yourself.

I don't understand why they would include the driver but not the software - and to top it off you have to DOWNLOAD its Watcher software, something that you needed the software to get online in the first place!

As not surprising the Windows version comes with the software! So to add salt to injury you can see that some of the 'smart alecs' making cynical remarks.

Anyone who already brought the unit can download the Watcher software from here. But please use an existing connection!! Shotgun

The unit is also quite large and bulky to use.. I don't recommend it at all!

Wow - yes, sometimes the hardware (and software) developers do really stupid things with their products. I've personally seen some early hardware that does the same thing - claim they work with the Mac when in fact they don't, they just want to jump on the Mac bandwagon as it is the "in" thing right now.

Quite fortunate you've managed to figure out to download the software and have an existing connection then!

Sometimes you can't take the product seller's word for it so test it out for yourself first before purchase.

I just swapped the SierraWireless unit with a Huawei unit, and it also had the same problem! You have to find the drivers & software, and only then it'd work! The software provided on the hardware once again doesn't include everything.

Again, I am disgusted that these companies would ship a half-baked hardware and claim on its box that it would work on Mac OS X!

The download driver is here:

Install both the drivers and the software.

Go to Internet Connect, select "Huawei Mobile", then key in the dialing number *99# in the connection number.

Run the software, and when prompted for the APN (Access Point Name), just type in "celcom3g".

Hope this helps for anyone looking to get the Huawei working.
