Looks like both parties have released a new version, which one do you prefer? Parallels Desktop 5 or VMWare Fusion 3?
I've always been a vmware user. Early on when I started running windows on my mac, I went with Parallels Desktop but the app modified some windows files in order to run which has resulted in my windows OS corrupted, I've used VMWare ever since then.
However, I am thinking of giving Parallels Desktop another chance because there are reports of it being faster. There is no professional comparison between the two yet, but I'd like to know your opinion of both apps.

Here's a comparison (as can be found from Google). :
VMware Fusion 3 has the following significant changes added to it:
* Supports running atop OS X 10.6's 64-bit kernel and runs as a 64-bit application
* Direct-X 9.0c support
* New CPU core handling for better multicore support for desktop Windows versions
* Better integration with Mac desktop environment, and Unity improvements
* Windows 7 guest OS and Aero support
* OpenGL 2.1 support for Windows client VMs
Parallels 5 has the following new features :
* Full support for Aero, including Flip 3D in Windows Vista and 7 & OpenGL 2.1
* OpenGL 2.1 support for Linux guest Operating Systems
* Support for Multi-Touch trackpad gestures in Windows applications
* Run Mac OS X and Windows on multiple monitors
* Use Apple remote to control Windows applications
* Copy & paste formatted text and images between Windows, Mac and Linux
* Use administrator tools to protect and secure virtual machines
