June '09 WWDC Updates
-------------------------
Here're just some of the updates from the recent WWDC yesterday. It's been a while, and boy, we're not disappointed.
Apple Revamps Entire MacBook Pro Line
Apple's laptops see a significant speed boost, up to 3.06GHz with an Intel Core 2 Duo. They include up to 8GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive or 250GB solid-state drive, and Nvidia 9400M integrated graphics. Higher end laptops add a dedicated Nvidia 9600M GT chipset for faster visual processing.

iPhone 3G S Out June 19 in $199 and $299 Models
New iPhone with a improvements to hardware and speed is due out Jun 19th in the U.S. - will feature, 3MP autofocus camera, improved photo quality and video recording - video clips record at 30 frames-per-second, filling 640x480 pixels, and you will have the ability to edit video clips in a simple manner! That's for U.S., however - so we wonder how many years it'd take for it to reach here?
Snow Leopard Will Ship in September for $29
Snow Leopard rewrites more of the underlying technology to utilize 64-bit chips and otherwise boost speeds. Apple touts speed improvements to Mail, Preview, the Finder, the installation process, and improved multi-core support will let the OS dynamically manage multi-core threads. With Leopard, an idle program can hog the ability for the multi-core chips to execute instructions--individual treads. Snow Leopard allocates these threads so that idle apps don't waste resources.
MacBook Air Prices chopped by $700
Phil Schiller also announced a major price cut on the MacBook Air. If you're on the fence about getting one, now is the time! That is, until the stock are available..
Sadly, no netbook-like affordable machine. If you'd like to know more or share with us, join in the discussion here.

A Blast to the Past
-------------------------
Want to know what 1977 advertisement for the Apple ][ look like? And check out that Matrix-like effect! Remember, this is way back from 1977!
Also, check out the NeXT Computer! Never heard of it? Well, its operating system is what the Mac OS X today is based on. This is way back the late 1980s, and the NeXT computer is something truly ahead of its time. There is the original NeXT video guide with Steve Jobs, and two more videos made by collectors. How advanced is the computer? You gotta see it for yourself!

Google Chrome now For Mac & Linux
-------------------------
Google Chrome is now available in developer version for Mac & Linux. But be warned - it's not usable for the masses just yet! To be downloaded at your own discretion.
-------------------------
Sims 3 for Mac
-------------------------
The Apple page now features The Sims 3, from EA. It was released just recently to much fanfare this month. If you're the fan of the original two games, then this will not disappoint.
-------------------------
Mac Mini Robots
-------------------------
Thought the Mac Mini is just a computer? Turns out that some clever guys decided to turn it into a automated robot, with the Mac Mini as its "brain!". But that's not all, Mac Mini users have been doing tons of things with their Minis for some time, aside from using it as a home media center, they put them inside cars so they can surf wirelessly! Mac Minis also make excellent load balancing servers, amongst many other things. It's just too versatile!
That's it for our fourth newsletter. These are some of the new things we would like to share with you and hope will participate in these discussions soon at MacMiri.com.
Happy Computing!
