Reading Link: Microsoft Publishes Comparison Web Page on Why Windows 7 is Better Than Mac OS X
Any thoughts?
In my opinion, there are many traits I do agree, as I've used Windows 7 as an upgrade option for some of my workstation but we reverted to Windows XP after we realized that a very important driver for our equipment was not available - and will never be (as written by the manufacturer themselves!) - for Windows 7.
But there are some biased ones as well, or it was written by someone who understood poorly how some of the things work on Macs.
Case in point, I'll just nitpick two for illustration purposes:
"Apple's productivity suite file formats don't open in MS Office and PCs. This can be a real hassle sharing work documents with PC users."
Uh, well, if one actually understand how it works, then anyone would realize that you can export to Office file formats. Or you can buy MS Office for Macs, Apple's productivity suites are optional.
and..
"most computer software are developed for PCs"
In today's modern world, cross platform compatibility is key. So most developers can develope their software to run on code that will run well on Macs, Windows AND Linux with some minor modifications. And if many will do a simple search, most developers are already doing this. Why sell to 90% of the market when you can sell to 100%? This is no longer the 1980s. Blizzard is a very good example of this.
Funny it doesn't touch on viruses and malware. It is the number 1 problem I'm facing at work, where even running very updated Kaspersky has failed twice (we access usb drives and customer memory cards almost nonstop - and some of these people don't know the meaning of antivirus). As far as market share goes, the old classic Macs had far more viruses or malware to it, but it had a far smaller marketshare too, debunking that these two go hand-in-hand.
